Earlier today at the Television Critics Association press tour, FOX announced that their hit drama series Empire would return in the fall for a fourth season. The news shouldn’t be surprising to fans, given that the soapy drama about a family record label has been one of the biggest shows on network television since it began in January 2015.
Empire‘s ratings saw their steepest decline yet this year, but the series remains the most popular on FOX’s roster. Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson star in the lead roles, with a supporting cast that includes Jussie Smollett, Bryshere Y. Gray and Trai Byers. Henson, who plays Cookie Lyon, earned a Golden Globe for her performance on the show last year.
Empire is currently on mid-season hiatus and will return on March 22nd. In the meantime, fans can see Henson in Hidden Figures which last weekend became the number one movie at the North American box office.
